Q: What is the cost for this valuable service?
A: There are two membership options: Basic and Preferred
Basic Membership:
This plan allows your Personal Care Advcoate to assist you one
medication and costs only $30 per month.
Preferred Membeship:
This plan is designed for people who need assistance with two or more
medications. It allows your Personal Care Advocate to assist you with an unlimited amount of medications
for only $20 per month per medication. For example if you are needing assistance with 3 medications then
your cost for this membership would be $60 per month. ($20 X 3 = $60)
Q: Are these Generic or Brand Name Medications?
A: Most drug assistance programs are for Brand Name medications. However, if there is no program for the Brand Name drug
then some generics are available.
Q: Where do these drugs come from?
A: The medications are supplied directly from the drug manufacturer and normally at least a 90 day supply is given.
Q: Why would the pharmaceutical companies offer these programs?
A: There is differing of opinions on the exact reasons that Pharmaceutical Companies are giving away so many
free prescription drugs. Some say that they do it because of their ongoing
commitment to public health and because they really do care about low-income families.
Others, noting the excruciating guidelines to participate and that the programs are not publicized, argue it
is more of a political move on the part of these companies.
Regardless of why, the fact is that they do give away free prescription medictaions
and many people can benefit. And now, with the help of the SelectCare Benefits Network, the processes have been
made easy for the average patient.
Q: How long does it take to get my medication?
A: From the time you get the initial forms to us it takes the company about 2 to 6 weeks to ship the medication.
Renewal applications must be sent in early to allow for this. Your Personal Care Advocate will contact you when
it is time to get started on the renewal process.
Q: What should I do after applying?
A: Continue with your medication as normal until the first shipment arrives from the pharmaceutical company.
As SCBN never dispenses medication or approves an application, we cannot guarantee the time of shipment of your order.
Q: How much medication will I be receiving?
A: Most companies send a three-month supply.
Q: How will I re-order my medications once the initial supply has run out?
A: Most Patient Assistance Programs require that you complete the entire application process for each shipment of
medication that they send. Your Personal Care Advocate will attempt to contact you when it is time to renew the
application process. Once you have verified the prescriptions that you will be needing, your Advocate will complete
all of the paperwork to make sure that you receive your free prescriptions refills
and forward it for signatures just like the first time. Every effort is made to complete the process in ample
time to receive your refills before you run out of medication. However, as we never dispense medication or approve
an application, we cannot guarantee the time or promptness of your delivery. Your cooperation with your Personal
Care Advocate is crucial to ensure the process runs smoothly.
Q: What if I am not approved for the program?
A: We make every effort to pre-qualify you for Patient Assistance Programs before we take your initial application.
Our pre-qualification is based on the most recent data available. If for any reason you are denied by the pharmaceutical
company, you will receive a full refund of your Membership dues for that medication upon receipt of the program's
rejection letter. In many cases, your Personal Care Advocate may be able to appeal the company''s decision for an additional
fee of $5 per month per medication to be appealed or a total net cost of $25 per medication. ($20 + $5 = $25)
